Lee Cataluna

Lee Cataluna’s plays have been performed, studied, and workshopped on both coasts and around the Hawaiian islands, where she was born and raised and still makes her home. Her plays include The Great Kauai Train Robbery, based on the true story of her uncle who was wrongly committed of Hawaii’s only train heist, and Hei, which uses Hawaiian string figures (similar to Cat’s Cradle) to tell the story of foster sisters who are “closer than blood”. She received the Cades Award for Literature in 2004. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from UC Riverside. She is of Native Hawaiian descent and is the mother of a young actor.
